We are 400 years of history
In 1971 we founded Sumitomo Corporation de Mexico, an integral force that works as a strategic partner for the different actors of the Mexican market, supporting public and private interests because we seek society welfare.

HISTORY
Sumitomo starts financial activities as an agent in the rice market.
Sumitomo acquires its first steamship, the "Hakusui Maru".
Masatomo Sumitomo opens an apothecary and bookstore. He created the bases of the Sumitomo Group with the "Precepts of the Founder".
Sumitomo starts the operation of the "Besshi" copper mine, the basis for the future expansion of the Sumitomo Group's activities.
Sumitomo Corporation is founded with the name of Osaka Hokko, K.K.
The company changes its name to "Nippon Kentetsu Kogyo".
The company changes its name to "Sumitomo Shoji", retakes its image with the "igeta" as a logo and establishes an office in New York.
Sumitomo Shoji of Mexico changes its name to Sumitomo Corporation of Mexico.
Sumitomo starts its globalization because it opens an office in Bombay (now Mumbai), India.
"Sumitomo Shoji de México" is established.
